FAQs

While surrounding organizations have increased their fees over the years, Collingwood Minor Baseball has remained the most affordable baseball organization in our area, especially for Rep and Select teams. We’ve kept our prices low for more than 5 years, even as costs continued to rise.

Behind the scenes, we’ve been absorbing increased expenses for diamonds, umpires, YSBA & OBA dues/fees, and insurance for all players, without passing those costs on to families. To keep our programs strong and sustainable, a small fee increase is now necessary.

But there’s good news, too!

For the first time ever, every player will receive a brand-new uniform.

Collingwood Minor Baseball is refreshing our look for all divisions this season. The new uniforms are higher quality, more cost-effective, and will match the fan wear we’ll be offering. It’s been over five years since our last uniform update, and this refresh will help create a consistent, modern look across the entire organization.

If you have any questions, concerns, or are interested in joining as a volunteer, please DM us or email [email protected].

Thank you for your continued support, we’re excited for an amazing season ahead!

Yes. This upcoming season 2026, Collingwood Minor Baseball is introducing a refreshed uniform design for all players. The updated uniforms are higher quality, more cost-effective, and will match the fan wear being offered. Because this is an association-wide update and the first uniform refresh in over five years all players, including returning ones, are required to purchase the new uniforms.

We understand that last year’s jerseys may still be in great condition and that this creates an added expense. However, consistent uniforms across the organization help maintain a modern, unified look, and it is standard practice in many rep and select programs for players to purchase new uniforms annually.

If you have any questions or need assistance during the transition, please reach out, we’re here to help.

We offer baseball starting at U6 thru U18.

U6 is one night a week and players will learn to hit the ball off a tee, catch & field a ball and throw the baseball. Multiple small teams will share a field. Each team will do a variety of drill stations and mini games.

For our U7-U9 age groups, depending on registration numbers, a 'mini-league' is sometimes set up with another nearby town. (ie; Beaver Valley)

U11-U18 Players have the option to play South Simcoe Minor Baseball (SSMBA also known as Local or House League), or try out for one of our Rep and Select teams.

  • Baseball glove
  • Running shoes or cleats (no metal spikes)
  • Baseball bat
  • Baseball batting helmet with double ear flap with chin strap or C Flap
  • Protective athletic support (Jock or Jill)
  • Water bottle
South Simcoe Minor Baseball (SSMBA) is a House League organization with close to 1000 players playing baseball ranging in years from 4 years of age up to and including 18 years of age. Our organization consists of 14 towns/cities (centres) in the South Simcoe region.

Collingwood Minor Baseball (CMBA) plays in this loop due to our registration numbers, surrounding centres registration numbers and diamond availability.

Rep and Select baseball are both competitive levels of youth baseball, but differ in terms of competition level and commitment. Rep and Select tryouts take place in the early fall so teams can begin off season training.

Rep teams, will play at a more competitive level and often compete against teams across the province. CMBA Rep teams play in the York Simcoe Baseball Association (YSBA). They are single aged group teams (U12,U13,U14 etc)

A typical REP season consists of the following:

  • 20-25 regular season games
  • 3-5 weekend tournaments (1-2 out of town with a hotel stay or more at Coach Discretion )
  • Practices (1 per week on average)
  • York Simcoe Play Offs in mid-August
  • Baseball Ontario Championships on Labour Day weekend for teams that qualify

Select Teams also play in the YSBA, they will have double header weekend games. Teams are typically two age groups combined (U11,U13,U15 etc)

A typical SELECT season consists of the following:

  • 16-18 regular season games
  • 3-5 weekend tournaments (1-2 out of town with a hotel stay)
  • Practices (1 per week on average)
  • York Simcoe Play Offs in mid-August
  • Baseball Ontario Select Championships on Labour Day weekend for teams that qualify.

Off-season commitments for BOTH REP AND SELECT:

  • Indoor fall and winter practices and workouts (team discretion)

  • Parent/player meetings
  • Fundraising
  • Team building

SSMBA teams will typically play 14 games in a season. 7 of those games will be in Collingwood and the other 7 will be “away” games. Teams travel to other centres within the South Simcoe Minor Baseball Association. Families should expect to be on the diamonds anywhere from 1-3 times per week.

You will be informed of your playing days upon completion of the League and Coach’s meetings. Coaches have a Scheduling Meeting with the YSBA and SSMBA as early as mid April. At the completion of these meetings, you will be contacted by your coach regarding your team’s game and practice times.

6U Rally Cap plays on Sundays for 2026.
Our Rep and Select teams will begin outdoor practices and games as early as May 1st. This is highly dependant on weather and diamond conditions.

SSMBA teams start shortly around the "May 24" Weekend.
