GENERAL INFORMATION

REGISTRATION START DATES

2026 House League Registration will open December 1st, 2025 

Early registration is strongly encouraged, as some divisions may fill quickly.

DIVISIONS

9U (9 and under) - South Simcoe Minor Baseball Association (SSMBA)
11U (11 and under) - SSMBA
13U (13 and under) - SSMBA
15U (15 and under) - SSMBA
18U (18 and under) - SSMBA

TRAVEL & GAME FORMAT

Collingwood Baseball participates in the South Simcoe Minor Baseball Association (SSMBA) for all divisions 9U and up. This means your team will play against all other centres registered in the league for that age group.

Which towns are in SSMBA?

Participating centres usually include:

  • Collingwood
  • Wasaga Beach
  • Stayner
  • Creemore
  • Barrie (some divisions)
  • Innisfil
  • Alliston
  • Tottenham

  • New Lowell

    (Exact centres may vary each season depending on registrations)

Your team will play every team signed up in your division, both at home and away.

Season Length and Schedule 

  • Regular season runs May to early August
  • 1–2 games per week + occasional practices
  • Travel required to SSMBA centres
  • Playoffs take place in August
Full schedules depend on:
  • Weather
  • Diamond availability
  • Coach availability
  • SSMBA scheduling

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

Required for all players:

  • Baseball glove
  • Running shoes or cleats
  • Water bottle
  • Baseball pants (grey recommended for SSMBA)
  • Protective cup (mandatory for 9U+)
  • helmet (provided, but families may choose to use personal helmets)

Optional but recommended:

  • Batting gloves
  • Sweatshirt/jacket for cooler nights
  • Personal bat (must meet Baseball Ontario standards)

Provided by CMBA:

  • Hat

  • Jersey (player keeps both)

  • Team equipment bag with bats, bases, tees where required

RALLY CAP vs LOCAL LEAGUE vs SSMBA

Rally Cap (6U) — Development Program

  • Ages 6 and under

  • Skills-focused

  • Stations + simple games

  • No standings, no inter-league travel

  • Purpose: introduce baseball fundamentals in a fun, safe way

  • NOT considered House League

Local League (7U) — Intro League Play

  • Collingwood vs Thornbury

  • Coach pitch → pitching machine

  • No travel beyond the two centres

  • First step into structured baseball

SSMBA House League (9U–18U) - Regional League

  • Full House League program

  • Teams play across South Simcoe

  • Standings, playoffs, and schedules set by SSMBA

  • Travel required (e.g., Wasaga Beach, Stayner, Creemore, Innisfil, Alliston, Tottenham)

  • Exposure to a variety of teams and skill levels

  • A more complete baseball experience than a single-town league

  • Builds confidence, independence, sportsmanship, and resilience

  • Prepares players for Select, Rep, and higher competition
